As we all know, there are classifications of plastic parts which are
moisture sensitive. These parts must either be kept dry, or baked out prior
to usage in order to avoid damage.

If these parts are supplied in open matrix trays, the bake out procedure is
rather straight forward. But what about if the parts are taped and reeled?

1) Can parts which are taped and reeled be baked per the standard 125C/24
hours and achieve the proper level of dryness?

2) Will the tape and reel take the 125C temperature, or do you need to
specify special materials?

3) Can a reduced temperature/increased time profile be used to bake out
taped and reeled components (for instance 40C for 192 hours)?

Any experience and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael Lang
