Hi Patrick,
I have done the same test before using 3M static event detector and
3M metal in shielding bags. I give this bag a charge of 1.5kV, they all
pass. What I want to know is are you using the metal in or metal out bags.
Strictly speaking, metal in bag is not reuseable. If you are using a metal
out bag, 3M has a bag checker which can check your bag. As for the metal in
bags, there is a checker call V-zap (not a 3M product) which can be used to
verify the bags.
By right, if you pump in a voltage of 2kv, the bags are not suppose to fail.
Check if the bag is severely crumpled. Probably the metal layer is already
broken.
