I'm doing a survey to determine how others in industry are cleaning
(assuming
you do clean) flux residue from hand soldering operations like soldering
wires
to terminals on small sub-assemblies, etc. I'm really interested in military
hardware, but all can reply. My questions are as follows:

1) Military or Commercial? Military

2) Clean or no clean? Clean

3) What flux type are you using? RMA

4) Hand or machine cleaning? Both - Machine cleaning for final

5) What chemical or solvent are you using? Alcohol or agitated
Axarel 2200 during soldering operations and Axarel 32 followed by DI
water rinse in a semi-aqueous system for final cleaning.

6) Are you happy with your present cleaning process? Happy with
the cleaning results we're getting but the batch processes we use limit
time and frequency of use. The 2200 chemical is dried (or actually
blown off) with force air and the 32 chemical followed by DI is dried in
an oven. The drying processes eats almost as much time as the
cleaning.

7) Any additional comments?

Thanks for your time and cooperation. I will tabulate all of the results and
post it on Technet when complete.
