Andy,

To cover traces cut when making mods to PWB's, we use solder mask touchup. It
all depends on your particular applications though. Although it isn't instant
cure, it can be rapidly cured in an oven. The most efficient way to do it would
be to apply the solder mask touchup just prior to moisture bakeout.

Depending on the number and size of cuts, you could use Kapton tape or "dots" to
cover the exposed traces.

I don't know of any "instant" adhesives that will withstand direct contact with
molten solder. You might be able to get a quick cure U.V. adhesive that can
withstand the reflow though.

Hi,

Does anybody out there know of an "instant" adhesive type material
that can be used to seal trace cuts? This material must be able to
withstand reflow and wave conditions.

Currently, we are using Loctite TakPak materials, and they are not
cutting it. The temperatures are just too hot, and the material
degrades and/or loses adhesion.

What do board fabs use to repair scratches? Perhaps there is an
"instant" soldermask repair material?

Many thanks in advance,

Andy French
