Daniel,
Mold absolutely loves citric acid! It will coat the sides
of your tank thoroughly given the chance.
In a past life we used hydrogen peroxide. We also used
bleach (separately, of course). Every time, we had to empty
and rinse out the tank after treatment, then go into the
tank and scrub the walls to get the dead mold off the tank
walls.
We were using citric acid on the electroless copper line as
an antitarnish. We got so tired of this cleanup that we
ditched the citric acid, went to sulfuric acid (<3%) and
used a benzetriazol type of antitarnish.
Happy cleaning!

We have a mildly acidic citrate type plating bath that develops MOLD
after periods of unuse, usually within two to three weeks. The mold
stains the deposit and plugs the filters. We prefer not to use
formaldehyde as a biocide due to its toxicity.
Can anyone recommend a benign biocide? Please advise.
