     I also should have stated that I am trying to do this with no-clean 
     flux. The literature I read says that I must use an activated flux. 
     Unfortunately, there is no barrier layer, which would make my life 
     easy.

     Hi TechNet -
     
     If there is no barrier plating finish between the silver and the brass 
     (such as nickel) then you may have zinc diffusion into/thru the silver 
     finish which will make for an nonsolderable situation. Conduct a 
     microsection and scanning electron microscopy analysis on the part to 
     determine the metallurgies present and to verify the finish 
     measurements. Good Luck.

     I have a part which is brass with 1 um of Ag. It does not take solder 
     very well at all. Any suggestions?
