Rick,
When I was first asked to "eyeball" the area of a piece of film for
plating purposes, I went a little wild, insisting that the only way
to do this properly, especially considering that the majority of
our jobs were done digitally, was to invest in the proper equipment,
ie a "Kahn" or equivalent. Well with words like "Capital Equipment",
"Budgets" and the like, they finally beat me down, and I succumbed to
doing the "estimations" by eye.
Well, with the exception of a few blatant errors, everything seems to
work fine, at least within the technology limits of the jobs we had
on film only.
For the last year, we no longer accept jobs on film only unless we
scan them.
Regards
John Parsons
