Subject: Fab: Pwb Fabrication Panel Sizes

   Hello TechNet,

I am interested in PWB fabrication panel sizes for utilization
calculating.
I would like to know what is the standard, favorite, best suited,
or practical for calculating fabrication utilization.

But as some of you know with the range of PWB sizes, not everything
fits a 18 X 24.

What are some of the various used in the industry with success
for through put. 14 X 24??

thank you kindly for your response

Just as a guideline, any panel size can be produced that is an even cut out of
a full sheet of laminate. The standard laminate sheet sizes are:

                36 x 48"
                36 x 42"
                42 x 48"

There is however some exceptions to this guideline. Shops that have developed a
rigid panel standardization and have "hard tooled" to there standard panel
sizes are usually locked into only a few options.

Another exception is efficiency, we like to maximize panel sizes which allows
us to produce less panels. Typically process efficiency is measured in panel
thru put not pieces. One example of this is photo print, It takes just as long
to image a 12 x 18 panel with 5 pieces as it does to image an 18 x 24 panel
with 10 pieces. Now, if you can only get say 45 images per hour, which size
would you rather run?

Hope this helps.

25x19 is the optimal panel size...

Mark, Your fab panel seems to be an odd size. Per Ed's comments
I cannot see how you get this panel out of a 36" X 48" sheet
 economically.
I have learn laminate material can also come in size 72" X 48",
with the same rule of thumb. A panel size visible in to these dim.
With this in mind.. You could get 10; 14.4" X 24" fab panels.
still..
Is this a unique manufacturable panel size?
Also, what is the useable area of any panel size?
    for instance.. 18 X 24 you can only calculate on 16.5" X 22.5"

  Thank you for your responses!!
