1 microMHO is 1 megOHM.

An error may be occurring in your set up if you have a multimeter, etc. 
directly in parallel with the resistor that you are measuring (typically
you are then adding another 10 megohm to your set up). So basically
if you are seeing this inconsistency, between 1 micromho and 1 megohm
all I can offer is the suggestion that your experimental arrangement
needs
looking at.
