Dear Jos Aarninkhof, SPA networks Almelo, The Netherlands

Thanks for your reply. I have IPC_SM_782 spec (reva-aug1993). Chapter3 does
tell about panels but does not clearly elaborate on the allowable min.
distance between edge of v groove and nearest component. I am having a board
with 0.095 thk, FR4 material,v goove 60 degrees, uncut is 0.024,, v groove
is 0.040 wide at surface, The nearest cap is 0.020 from the edge of groove
before cut. We are using Cab Maestro 4M PCB cutter ,single pass blade angle
10 degrees. We are sure whether problem is coming from cutter process or
design of board itself.
I will appreciate technical advise on this. In case you find the old
standard cover clear picture on the clearance issue, I will appreciate fax
copy of that page.
If you can advise us on this we will appreciate technically very much.

Dear Ashok,

IPC-SM-782 gives you an overview of the different design rules
concerning SMD but also gives an statement about clearance at the sides
to assure good boardhandling during production and breaking down of the
panel. In the old issue from march 1987(there is a revised issue from
august 1993) is on page 56, chapter 7.1 a detailed figure giving you the
data you need.

Best Regards
