Samantha,

Touch up of defective photoresist images is typically not recommended by most
resist suppliers. It is tough to effectively repair most of the work being
imaged today; while repair of defects in the 5/5 mil or less range is an art
form. Frequently, the additional handling of developed panels or
innerlayers causes more damage than the touch up repairs. This is a case
where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... thorough cleaning of
phototools, vacuum frames, and laminated panels/innerlayers should be done to
prevent photographic defects.

Still, in the real world, there are times when resist touch up is acceptable,
(in FA situations, for instance, or when the only alternative is scrap). In
the case where touch up is unavoidable, I recomend the following pens:

Kimoto Pake super density retouching pen (red). This pen will survive
Alkaline clean, microetch, developer, acid/alkaline etch, preplate clean and
plating.
Kimoto Pake super density retouching pen (black) will survive all of the
above conditions, except preplate clean/plating. Both pens are available in
a variety of tip sizes (Super fine, Ultra fine, Fine, and Medium). Both pens
air dry in about 10 to 15 minutes. You can get them from:

You may also be able to get them (or something similar) from the E. W. Dorn
Company.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
