I'm the test engineer for a PCB manufacturere (of course) and I've been
trying to find some information. Unfortunately all the traditional
resources haven't been able to help me so I'm hoping somebody reading this
mailing list will be able to point me in the right direction.
I'm trying to upgrade our dedicated open/short electrical testers that are
in our final test area. Currently we have our operators T-stamp every
board that passes. We would like to take this out of the operator's
control to reduce electrical escapes. I've been thinking of putting some
kind of ink-jet sprayer into every fixture we build. When the board
passes, the computer will send a signal to this sprayer and it will spray a
T-stamp onto the board. I was thinking of putting something like what Coke
uses to spray lot and production numbers on the bottom of their aluminum
cans or a sprayer that puts the date code on the side of plastic 1 gallon
milk jugs. Unfortunately, Coke won't give me that information.
I think that this will work pretty well, assuming that the sprayer head is
small enough to fit into a fixture. We've played with other ideas such as
using a self inking T-stamp connected to a servo motor or solenoid. I'm
not really enamored with this idea for various reasons.
So, if anybody has attempted this before, or could point me towards a
supplier for these sprayers I would be very grateful.
Please email me with any information you may have since I don't subscribe
to the mailing list (I'm using my personal account which has a limited
amount of mail space while my company is setting up my email address).
Cheers.
