I would suspect that you have a cleaning solution that has too high a pH (in
the 12-13 range).  A very basic saponifier can attack solder joints, making
them appear gray or black.  Some of the early Armakleen formulations, that
ran in the PH 12 range, had this problem.  Some companies that I have seen
also run some cleaning solutions in the pH 13 range and have a real problem
with dull grey joints.  I would check the pH of your system.  If it is 12 or
above, it is too caustic.  Check the chemisty to see if that is what it
should be.  If so, you might want to consider alternatives.  As Jack Crawford
pointed out recently, dull solder joints are not functionally bad solder
joints, just ascetically bad.  On the other hand, you might be getting attack
of the solder mask and laminate at a high pH.
