James,

I have never heard of this problem before and I seriously doubt that the
air knives are the problem.  Even if (and I do mean IF) the air was
generating static it should not discharge if all handling procedures are
correct.  It should be a simple check though.  Test the boards for ESD
damage before cleaning, then again after clean and see what happens.
