I've seen dashed lines used on one or two designs to designate
components on the secondary side.  It is a matter of choice, and didn't
make much difference to the assemblers.  They didn't have an education
that included print reading and an explination of the dashed lines was
still required.

It is slightly less expensive than adding a second legend screen.  My
opinion is why bother with component designators?  Designs are getting
so dense that legends should be restricted to essential designators
only.  Part locations and pin one orientations are more easily found on
an enlarged assembyly drawing.
