I saw this use of a dotted line quite a bit on boards from various
customers when I worked in contract assembly. It saves adding silkscreen
to the back side of the board ($$).

Has anyone heard of using a dashing connector silkscreen outline to
designate that a connector be placed on the solder side of the board
vs. the component side? I realize that dashed lines on drawing
designate this, but I have never seen it on the actual PCB.
