Meaning and origin

It in fact is not an acronym and is derived from a Greek word meaning "equal".
The Standards (there are a series of ISO9000) were created by the International
Organization for Standardization, a Geneva, Switzerland-based organization
with more than 110 members, each representing a different country. ANSI
represents the United States.
