ISO's Name? Here's the skinny,

Because the name of the International Organization for Standardization
would have different abbreviations in different languages (IOS in English, OIN
in French), it was decided to use a word derived from Greek ISOS, meaning
"equal". Therefore, the short form of the Organization's name is always ISO.

Source for the above info is: ISO Central Secretariat
					Geneve, Switzerland
				WEB Address: www.iso.ch/

Hope this clears up the name thing.
