There is no question that if you have two pads electrically connected to each
other, and one, for any reason, is signicantly harder to plate to, you will
likely get near zero plating, and you then tend strongly to develope a
galvanic couple, (And they make such a nice couple together!.....Sorry!)
wherein the one pad sees only Hypophophite being reduced, and the other pad
gets all the Nickle.   This is theoretically possible, but those of us who
live in labs and front lobbies rarely see it.
