The two major specifications that address ionic cleanliness acceptable levels
are:

1. MIL-P-55110. The is a military specification and the maximum allowable
limit of ionic contamination is 10 micrograms of sodium chloride equivalents
(SOD's) per square inch (1.55 SOD's/square cm).

2. Bellcore TSY-000078. This is the telecommunications industry specification
and the maximum allowable limit of ionic contamination is 6.45 micrograms of
sodium chloride equivalents (SOD's) per square inch (1.0 SOD's/square cm).

Threre are a number of different ionic cleanliness test instruments on the
market. Some of the more well known are:

     A. Ionograph (Alpha Metals)
     B. Omegameter (Alpha Metals)
     C. Ion Chaser (Union Carbide)

I hope this information is helpful for you.
