Dear Ty:

As a board fabricator, we typically add a spot pattern consisting of
.050" square pads on a .100" grid to fill in open area on the board.
Most CAM software can add a pattern like this fairly easily, although
it wouldn't be possible to guarantee 100% repeatability between Revs.

If hatch is your only option, the pattern you suggested,
(.025" width / .050" grid) should cause no fabrication problems.
