Wow and I thought I would never use that particular Metallurgy class
     again!

The word plumbum is Latin for lead and is why the Periodic Table
uses
Pb as the symbol for lead. The Romans used lead as aqueduct piping
and
as decorative paint on plates - needless to say that the average
Roman
accumulated an unhealthy level of lead in his/her system if they
lived
     long enough.

The word argentum is Latin for silver and is why the Periodic Table
uses Ag as the symbol for silver. The Greek armies used to fall
sick
due to periodic stomach illnesses and the soldiers were sick more
often than the officers - the soldiers used tin cups and the
officers
used silver cups. What's the big deal - silver is a natural biocide
and killed the little creatures that were in whatever lake the
Greek
army was drinking out at the time!
