Make way for the dinosaur-----

In this constantly changing tech world of ours there must be --- somewhere ---
some embedded principals (or principles) --- that lets us measure the change.

I believe this technet forum is one of the greatest things the IPC has provided
for its membership. The exchanges on technet have mirrored the exchanges that
used to take place ---- still do --- in what I referred to as the "hallways of
the Institute" --- before meetings, after meetings and during the breaks. Not
to mention many of the committee meetings. We've come a long way not only in
what questions we're tossing around but globality of tech subjects and distance.
This is the nature of the progress that our IPC efforts have always fostered and
will no doubt continue to do so. But-----

Some of the basics still have value and I believe that this tech forum should
remain just that and that we continue to adhere to a voluntary policy of no job
hunting or offers on this technical forum even as we do to the origin policy of
no commercialism. As long as other forums exist for employment opportunities
and postings --- let's use them instead of this one. As long as our Expo exists
for pitching products, use that outlet instead of this one or find a more
suitable on-going venue.

While I'm not quite comfortable with the Design Council arrangement, there seems
to be a membership difference that gives it some greater leeway but that's
another story. For this tech forum I'd like to stick to the founding basics
that differentiated the IPC from the IEEE and similar organizations around us at
the time. I believe we, as members, enjoy the professionalism for which the IPC
is respected ---- and which came about because we worked hard at keeping our
eyes on changing and emerging technologies while observing the basic rules of
the game.

Best to all----

Bernie Kessler, Boys High, Brooklyn '40 (I note that on some forums it's
customary to give your past academic affiliations. I'm ready for that change!!)
