I've been told that a reed bed could be used to remove the heavy metals from
 electroplating rinse water. The heavy metals should fall and form a sludge
under the reeds. Better still, once set up it should run for 10 - 12 years
with little attention.

All sounds too good to be true ?

Have any PCB or metal plating firms looked into this low cost " green "
solution, or is our waste too toxic for the reeds to handle.
