Steve,
If you set up a vacation message for auto-reply, you would
generate back-traffic for each incoming mail message.
If your company shut down over the holidays, perhaps your
sysops set up a global message of this type, without your
knowledge.
An unattended server that fills up will also generate this
kind of traffic, not uncommon over a holiday (or a sysop's
vacation).
Anyone faced with this should plan on un-subscribing and
re-subscribing later. The filled server case is, um, a little
harder - anyone who masters that one has achieved the holy
grail of software, "If this will cause an error, then ...",
also known as the DWIM macro (Do What I Meant).
Good luck, hope you're back online soon.
