     Address,

I would like to know the same. I have had some components that would
not solder properly, leaving opens. Granted some of the problems were
related to the PCB, but how can I identify retention periods for
components? Can the same retention periods be applied to components
as PCBs (proper storage, dessicants, cleaning, etc.) Please advise.

Dear Technetters,

I have a simple question.

What is the standard " Shelf life " for the normal PTH and SMD
components like DIP IC's, SOIC's, PLCC's etc. ?
I would like to know the time from Date of Mfg. to the time the
component is assembled ( either reflow or wave solder ).

Thanks in advance.
GKBhat.
