     Gary,
     
          The tack time can vary greatly depending on component mix on the 
     product.  For a good summary of SMT equipment performance, Circuits 
     Assembly (January 1997) published an equipment survey that includes a 
     breakdown of placing rates for component types.  However the best way to 
     get this info is to measure it yourself.
