Department Mission:
TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A "WORLD CLASS" CUSTOMER SUPPORT ORGANIZATION AND
TO "MAKE EVERY CUSTOMER A REFERENCE ACCOUNT."
Title: PCB Application Engineer
Business Unit: PCB - Electronics
Reports to: Customer Support Manager
Primary Function: Post-Sales support through Product Training, application
support, product configuration & set up, and management of the TAC center.
Pre-sales support in assistance of product development with the PCB
Business Unit and Engineering and the Beta testing of new and existing
products.
Responsibilities:
--Conduct Operator Training for our PCB products and develop curriculum for
these classes, including preparation of training outlines and lessons for
lab exercises.
--Provide assistance in the installation of our products through system
configuration, software installation, and set up of peripherals.
--Provide marketing and product development business unit with user
evaluations of product functionality to aid in assuring products will
effectively serve customer needs.
--Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of current and future product to
provide internal personnel and customers with accurate and up-to-date
information regarding the industry.
--Management of the Technical Assistance Center, including telephone support
to those customers.
--Management of the Software Problem Reporting Meeting and maintenance of
the software problem reporting procedure, as well as the responsibility of
receiving the disposition to the customer with the disposition and status.
--Work with the PCB Business Unit's development projects in the Beta testing
of new products and releases. This will include Beta activity at customer
sites.
--Evaluate and review new user documentation of our PCB products.
--Management of Software releases to our customers, including preparation of
release notes and installation instructions as well as other associated
documentation.
--Maintenance of the current list of customers with software support
contracts.
--Perform other related tasks that management deems necessary.
Qualifications:
--Knowledge of the Printed Circuit Board Fabrication Process.
--Programming experience and script writing capability.
--Ability to work well with customers.
--Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
--Resourcefulness and creativity in addressing problems.
--Knowledge of competitive products and keeping current of these products.
--Versatility and flexibility to accept a diverse range of assignments.
--Willingness to travel extensively.
Experience:
--Process Engineering experience in the Printed Circuit Board Industry or
the equivalent knowledge.
--Workstation and PC Computer experience in PC CAM Fabrication products in
applications and system administration.
--Associated knowledge in computer networking; local networks, Internet, and
Modem
Summary:
This position in Customer Support involves developing training curriculum,
setting up training programs, and system integration and configuration. A
complete knowledge of the Printed Circuit Fabrication process and how our
products relate to this is essential. This individual will play a key role
in the testing and approval of new products in the PCB business unit. In
order to keep current, the Systems Engineer is expected to be aware of the
latest trends in the industry.
