Regarding industry standard rotation conventions: See IPC-D-355, "Printed
Board Automated Assembly Description in Digital Form," Appendix B.
If IPC-D-350 (stop smirking) is used as a data transfer format, the pin
orientation may be accounted for during design.
This is based on Mitron's GENCAD 1.3 specification which is going to
be the standard for DTS96, a new data transfer format.
For more info on IPC-D-356 or DTS96, contact task group chair Harry
Parkinson at Digital Equipment Corp. ([log in to unmask]).
