Dear Colleagues:

The IPC has been invited to a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency meeting that will identify specific problems that small businesses have encountered when trying to access capital. Specifically, the EPA would like small business representatives to discuss problems they have faced with banks and lending institutions when they have tried to obtain lending for environmental improvements (e.g, pollution prevention equipment). For example, some industries have found that banks are reluctant to secure loans with collateral that may be associated with environmental liability.

Michael Kerr from Circuit Center, Inc., located in Dayton Ohio, will represent the IPC.

In order to ensure that Michael represents the interests of all IPC member companies, please e-mail me a short synopsis of any and all difficulties your companies have faced when trying to obtain loans for environmental improvements. Please submit them to me by Wednesday, January 15th noon EST.

Thank you for your assistance.

Holly Lynch
