For those of you who want to file public comments on EPA's proposed expansion of the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) rule, that would require facilities that are currently subject to TRI reporting requirements to also report data concerning their chemical usage/materials accounting data, the EPA has expanded the public comment period on that proposal to February 28, 1997.
The proposal was originally published in the Federal Register on October 1, 1996 and public comments were originally due on December 30, 1996.
IPC has prepared draft comments to this proposal on behalf of the industry. IPC's draft comments oppose extension of the TRI reporting requirements for a number of reasons including lack of statutory authority, unjustified regulatory burden, invasion of business trade secrets, as well as lack of need. If you would like a copy of IPC's draft comments, please e-mail me at [log in to unmask]
