Trichloroethylene was used in the 70's and early 80's to strip uncured 
soldermask and legend inks from panels.  It was also used to clean 
screens after soldermask or legend operation.  Most shops who used it 
switched to trichloroethane around 1979 or 1980, before non-chlorinated
