The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has announced that it has made available via its Home Page (http:www.osha.gov) two compliance assistance tools.

First, OSHA has made its Confined Spaces Advisor software available.  The software, a Windows program, gives users interactive expert help in complying with the Permit Required Confined Space Standard (29 CFR 1910.146).  The software is distributed from the OSHA site as a single self extracting file (CSANABOX.EXE) and takes about 10 minutes to download with a 28,800 baud modem.  OSHA suggests copying the file into a temporary subdirectory named C:/TEMPCSA.  Use file manager to select CSANABOX.EXE and double-click to expand it, then doubleclick on SETUPCSA.EXE to automatically install the software in C:/CSA.

Second, OSHA has made an OSHA poster, summarizing major provisions of the OSH Act and telling employers how to file a complaint, available through its Home Page.  OSHA recommends a printer with at least 1 MB of memory and provides these instructions:

- The file is only available in PDF format.  To view and/or print PDF documents, you must have a PDF viewer available on your workstation.
- Click on the link for the OSHA poster, color_poster.pdf or bw_poster.pdf, and wait for it to load in your viewer.
- To print, select File, Print, and press OK.  The two printed pages must be taped or pasted together to form poster.
