Here is a little bit of news about Clean Air. In the second article, I
wonder if this study is the one that lead to using 2.5 micron Particulate
Matter rather than 10 micron PM.

                                        NEWS

"O That Zone Again [The U.N. Report]." Washington Times, 7
April
          97, A14.
The World Meteorological Organization reported that the
ozone layer over the Arctic "is thinner than ever" but
does
not yet have a hole like that which appears over
Antarctica
every October. The organization predicted that ozone loss

would peak between 2001 and 2005 if international
agreements
to reduce fluorocarbon compounds are maintained.

                      ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS: CLEAN AIR ACT

"Pollution Study Sparks Debate Over Secret Data [Science]."
 Wall
          Street Journal, 7 April 97, B1, B7.
A 1993 study published by Harvard University researchers
found that microscopic particles polluting the air were
causing thousands of deaths each year. As the
Environmental
Protection Agency prepares to adopt new rules under the
Clean Air Act that limit such particles, many industry
groups and even the EPA are calling for public disclosure
of
the raw data used in that study. However, the scientists
protest that requiring data to be available that
identifies
individuals will limit their ability to perform future
epidemiological studies and lead to continuing
controversies
with industry groups adversely affected by the studies.
