The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) will hold a public
workshop to present and solicit information and comments regarding
proposed amended Rule 1122--Solvent Degreasers. This meeting is
scheduled for 9-11 am on Wednesday, June 18, 1997, in the AQMD Auditorium at
21865 E. Copley Avenue in Diamond Bar, CA.
The objective of the proposed rule is to reduce emissions of VOCs from
batch-loaded cold cleaners and vapor degreasers. In addition, the rule
will incorporate equipment specific standards, monitoring, recordkeeping
and reporting requirements found in the National Emission Standards for
Hazardous Air Pollutants: Halogenated Solvent Cleaning NESHAP.
Specifically, the proposed rule 1122 recommends:
1--VOC content limit of 50 grams per liter; or
2--use of air-tight or airless cleaning equipment
3--use of superheated vapor zones for all new vapor degreasers
4--retrofitting existing permitted vapor degreasers with freeboard
chillers and higher freeboards.
