Ask the question this way round:
Would it be OK if I poured a quart of flux into the wave solder pot?
Approximately: Solder paste is 90% metal and 10% flux, so it sounds as though it
would be OK to tip it in a regular solder pot. However those numbers are by
weight, solder is heavy stuff so by volume paste is about 50% flux. So if you
put 10 kg of paste into a solder pot you are actually adding around a quart
(US) of fluxy stuff.......

Good day all!
This might seem like a pretty dumb question, but I was wondering if there's
anything wrong with putting old solder paste in yer' wave solder pot? I was
feeling bored the other day, so I cleaned out our solder paste 'fridge, and I've
got some jars of a bunch of different samples of no-cleans and water solubles
that were played around with in the past, and I just want to get rid of them
before an operator grabs one and uses it. They're all the same alloy (63/37) but
there are different flux types. We're in a water soluble process now, and we
don't build missile guidance systems, just class-II stuff.......
