Hi Matthew,
Be very careful using edge card connectors or similar (they need to be
gold-plated contacts), especially if you are testing to Class III conditions
(85C/85% RH). Leakage across the connector can be a problem. You should
definitely make the appropriate electrical measurements before changing
connection schemes.
By the way, you should remove the flux after soldering the wires onto the coupon
so that it does not contaminate your samples. We use WW rosin and clean using a
plastic scrubber (it looks similar to steel wool) and IPA. This should be done
immediately after soldering. Be careful not to let the IPA run onto the coupon
(orient the coupon vertically with the connedtion side down). Also, it's a good
idea to use Teflon coated wired.
If you have any questions, drop me a line.

IPC,
I am an intern for INTeL Corporation and I am currently working on a
project that involves the measurements of the Surface Insulation
Resistance(SIR) of PCB's. The project has been broadened recently and I
have come to the conclusion that the current methods are taking too long
and are too sloppy.
So here is the deal.
The SIROMETER has 22 gauge wires which are connected to the pcb's. The
coupons we are currently using are B24(I don't know where INTeL got
them, but my supervisor suggested to contact IPC.ORG on the web to look
for help). Well, soldering the wires to the edge connectors of the
PCB's just isn't cutting it. It is a painstakingly long process and
resoldering is very messy and will impede with the integrity of our
results.
The question - Do you know of any type of connectors or adapters or
small jumper cable type things that would make this connection simpler?
I am probably going to drop by Homebase tomorrow to see if they got
anything that would work. Just wanted your opinion.
Thanks for your time!
Matthew Holden
