If they can guarantee the installed harness will be secured, never flex and be 
under no strain you MIGHT be able to get away with it....

But a general comment (nothing against you, Howard) it seems a shame to always 
look for answers in a spec instead of using common sense and good engineering 
practices. Makes me wonder how many others are stretching the limits to get a 
product out the door, even if lives will be at stake down the road. (ok, so I'm 
in a philosophical mood today)
