We have a military contract that requires conformance to Mil STD 275, which is
now at least 12 years old. We would like to design some complex SMT 8 layer
PCBs with 1/2 oz copper signal layers for all the good reasons of accurate
fine line width control, predictable impedance, etc. The old MIL Std 275 will
only permit 1 oz copper. The customer will permit the use of 1/2 oz copper if
we can show military programs usage with qual test data to back up the claim
that 1/2 oz is not prone to any reliability problems (cracks, etc.).
Can any one help me with Mil programs and test data?
