A general rule for both soldering and inspection of PCB's would be 125 foot
candles minimum. MIL-STD-2000 referenced 100 foot candles mininum, (1077
Lm/m2) for solder operations. Our operators and Inspectors preferred the
brighter area.

Subject: inspection lighting
I am currently in the process of re-evaluating my final inspection area. I
have made many changes to the configuration of the area and am now
attempting to evaluate the lighting of the inspection work stations. My
question is, what is the correct or optimum lighting required for the
inspection of bare PCB's and what are the methods of measurment?
Any information on this subject can be helpful.
Thank You!
