1. Bellcore is a private standards organization as opposed
to public standards such as UL and FCC.
Public standards are required by law.
Private standards are NOT required by law.

2. The telecommuncations industry requires Bellcore standards.

3. You can get your equipment Bellcore qulaified a number
of different ways depending upon your customer's requirements.
Some of the tests require testing equipment and methods that may
not be available to you. You could go to a lab or do the test
yourself. I have had to do it both ways. One very important
thing to know is that to remember is the specific Bellcore standard
that you may be working from can be interpreted anyway the customer
wants. Unlike the public standards with specific limits and
criteria with pass or fail results, the Bellcore standards can
be interpreted different ways. You have to be keenly aware of
what your customer requires. Doing full Bellcore testing
   can cost ineffective.

4. Again, depending upon the tests required by your customer
the cost can vary greatly from spending an hour doing
a packaged drop test on the loading dock and doing the
test writeup yourself to thousands of dollars.
Be very careful of the specific requirements of your customer.

I'm sure there are several Bellcore people reading this
as we email and their input is very important to you.

I would refer more spcific questions that you have to
them first.

Doug
