At the last 2 Productronica exhibitions, Cedal were exhibiting 2 part 
plastic pins.  They are located using an assembly platform and then fixed 
using some method of ultrasonic welding of the 2 parts.

These are then used in their novel pressing technique that used the 
heating effect of low voltage, high current, passed through the 
continuous 'concertina style' lay up of copper foil.
