I am suppose to decide if the following is feasible. My first thought says
NO. But may be someone else has run across this.

I have some people who want a break away back plane. We have several
systems that use the same cards just a different number of them. So they
want to be able to break away the number of slots they need from a larger
backplane to have the appropriate length without having to manufacture
totally different sized boards.

Has anyone done anything like this or remotely similar?
