Jodi,

The image gets stripped, so for everyone else, here’s something similar to what Jodi is asking about:

1-284506-0 : Buchanan PCB Terminal Blocks | TE Connectivity<https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-1-284506-0.html>

No, I don’t think that type of termination is specifically covered.

There are very few instances that I can think of where IPC standards dictate what type of hardware or configurations are or are not allowed for certain Classes. For the most part, the standards provide the assembly/acceptance requirements and it is up to the engineering documents to dictate the hardware used. So if your documents don’t call for any kind of contact or termination to be applied to the end of the wire then you can’t add one, and the wire itself would be terminated in this block.

Hi Ben

I did see that but that doesn't apply to this . These are terminal blocks from Phoenix . I just could find this in the IPC book . I could only find that in Europe they are required but nothing about the US

Jodi,

What document are you looking at or working to?

IPC-A-610 4.1.5.3 has some criteria specific to stranded wires under the head of a threaded fastener, which may apply to your hardware.

Subject: EXTERNAL: [TN] TERMINAL BLOCK REQUIREMENTS

Good Morning,

I am looking for the requirement per IPC for stranded wire terminated into terminal Blocks. 5.4 says termination ferrules are typically used to terminate stranded wires into terminal blocks. I do not see if they are required per IPC or not .This is a Class 3 product . Thank you for your help in advance
