These are parameters you should determine by testing. I am retired now but remember requiring re-priming if >30 hours had elapsed. It is also my memory that poor adhesion results if vapor deposited primer is applied to existing Parylene coating - while acceptable adhesion is obtained when liquid applied primer is applied over existing Parylene. Again, you should do some testing on your processes to establish acceptable practices.

Good luck,

Subject: [TN] Hey Coating Techies

Two parylene coating related questions regarding primers:

#1 - What is the maximum time you would allow between priming and depositing the parylene?

#2 - I have been lead to believe that if you place primer on an already coated parylene surface , the primer will act as a release agent for the next layer of parylene. Better not to add primer in this case but rather recoat ASAP. Would welcome any and all thoughts.

Thanks in advance
