Subject: [TN] Element Quiz Answer

We'll have a "easy" quiz this week!

The Question:

This element derives its name from the inventor of the cyclotron.

Name the element

being described?

The Answer:

The element is Lawrencium (Lr)! Lawrencium is named after Ernest Orlando Lawrence, inventor of the cyclotron. The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory claimed the discovery of the element and proposed the name "lawrencium" with symbol "Lw", after Lawrence. The IUPAC Commission on Nomenclature of Inorganic Chemistry accepted the name, but changed the symbol to "Lr".

The winner of the quiz is Ron Feyereisen, SigmaTron Intl. and he will get the services of Clumpy & Kloumpios for the week.
