Wow,

The boys are right on time. decapsulation of two custom ASICs potted in epoxy, lots of prep work and then on to the 576 Tek curve tracer to characterize all characteristics of 8 diodes looking for a potential walking wounded.

Subject: [TN] Element Quiz Answer

The Question:

This element has been used to treat diarrhea, other gastro-intestinal

diseases and cadmium poisoning. A compound of this element is an opaque

yellow pigment used by some artists' oil, acrylic, and watercolor paint

companies, primarily as a replacement for the more toxic cadmium sulfide

yellows. This element expands upon solidification. This element was known

to the Incas and used (along with the usual copper and tin) in a special

bronze alloy for knives. What element is being described?

The Answer:

The element is Bismuth (Bi)! Bismuth subsalicylate is used as an

anti-diarrheal; it is the active ingredient in such "Pink Bismuth"

preparations as Pepto-Bismol, as well as the 2004 reformulation of

Kaopectate. Bismuth vanadate is used as a light-stable non-reactive paint

pigment often as a replacement for the more toxic cadmium sulfide yellow.

Bismuth is denser in the liquid phase than the solid, a characteristic it

shares with germanium, silicon, gallium and water and it expands 3.32% on

solidification.

Week 74 Leland Woodall

- The weather here is pretty nice, so the guys can assist with generating

the Quality reports for September for a day or so, and then perform some

outside work around the house. I'll try to take it easy on 'em!

Week 75 Mordechai Kirshenbaum

- They missed the connection and had to wait 8 hours at Heathrow. This is

their third visit to Israel. This time they are going to work hard. At

least the weather is fine.

Week 76 Tom Carroll, Boeing

- Clumpy and Kloumpios couldn't come at a better time, they will be helping

with storm clean up and putting up Halloween decorations. Make sure they

bring the big John Deere tractor to haul the debris to the curb for pick up

by our local sanitation crews. If they are really good, I'll send them back

with extra treats for all who get to attend the IPC meetings.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. Have fun and a few drinks for

me.

Week 76 Eray Canli, ANDAR Electromechanical Systems

- Since they are so 'familier' with IPC community than anyone else, should

come to office and discipline my colleagues on importance of the ESD issues

for a whole week.

Week 77 Drew Meyer, Benchmark Electronics

- assisted with ????

I hope everyone has a awesome week!
