A list of material outgassing values can be located at:

https://ntrs.nasa.gov/search.jsp?R=19970027853

To meet NASA Outgassing requirements, TML must be less than 1% and the CVCM must be less than 0.1%. Both requirements must be met to be considered a NASA Low Outgassing material.

Thanks Ioan.
So is there an actual pass/fail criteria in ASTM E595?

Hi Rich,

You'll need to start with ASTM E595, outgassing. This will allow the adhesive into your usable chemicals database.

Then its program related, you'll thermally cycle, vibrate, shock, etc. (per program requirements) each substrate/component combination you need. Guidelines for each required test method are in MIL-883. I don't believe there is a more general way.

Cheers,

Ioan

Can anyone tell me what defense industry standards are required to qualify an adhesive for space applications?
I seem to recall something may have of existed in Mil Std-883?
