As for delicacy, the problem is that the jerk force is often times a lot higher than we realize. Mostly, when handling accelerometers, I recommended a dual foam protection system, a layer of rigid or semi-rigid foam with another layer of soft foam to reduce the jerk force.
Most applications recommend an adhesive perimeter bond to improve survivability.
Recommendation at least 1 inch of soft foam in both component and assembly packaging.
