Dave,

Not to forget Cupru (Romanian), which shows how close we are from our Roman roots ;-)

Objet : [TN] Element Quiz Answer

 The Question:

This element is found in its elemental form in nature. The largest mass of

the element in elemental form discovered weighed 420 tonnes and was found

in 1857 on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan, USA. This element has been

known for over 10,000 years. The town of Falun, Sweden is associated with

this element. Alloys containing this element have natural properties that

destroy a wide range of microorganisms. What element is being described?

The Answer:

The element is Copper (Cu). Copper is one of the few metals that occur in

nature in directly usable metallic form (native metals) as opposed to

needing extraction from an ore and led to very early human use. In the

Roman era, copper was principally mined on Cyprus, the origin of the name

of the metal, from aes сyprium (metal of Cyprus), later corrupted to

сuprum, from which the words copper (English), cuivre (French), cobre

(Spanish), Koper (Dutch) and Kupfer (German) are all derived. The Great

Copper Mountain was a mine in Falun, Sweden, that operated from the 10th

century to 1992. It satisfied two thirds of Europe's copper consumption in

the 17th century and helped fund many of Sweden's wars during that

time. Some 355 copper alloys have been proven to kill more than 99.9% of

disease-causing bacteria within just two hours when cleaned regularly.

Week 64 George Wenger

- I couldn't have won at a better time. I recently purchased a 5 acre lot

and I need to remove lots of trees, stumps and sticker bushes so my builder

can build a new 3 bedroom ranch home. Approximately 10 weeks ago I

herniated a disk in my back and I haven't been able to do a lot of work on

our lot so I have plenty of work for Clumpy and Kloumpios to do this week.

Week 65 Frank Kimmey, VeriFone Inc

- Since the boys are probably tired from all the work George made them do,

they can join me for the week at Sunset Beach on the Monterrey Bay. Pure

relaxation on vacation. Maybe they can convince the local raccoons to stay

out of my camp. We’ll have some great games of Cards Against Humanity with

them.

Week 66 Jerry Dengler, Pergamon Corp

- Good timing. We just purchased another oven and I can use the help

getting ready to take delivery

Week 66 Leland Woodall

Week 67 Eray Canli

I hope everyone has a awesome week!
